Saurashtra Tamil Samagam: PM Modi to Address Closing Ceremony Today

Somnath: Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam will conclude on Wednesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in the closing ceremony via video conferencing.

According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Saurashtra Tamil Samagam is part of PM Modi’s effort to promote the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Through this program the age-old links between people in different parts of the country are being rediscovered. With the same motive, the Kashi Tamil Sangamam was organised earlier.

The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam celebrates the cultural and heritage links between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

As per historians, several centuries ago, many people from Saurashtra region migrated to Tamil Nadu. The Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam provided an opportunity for Saurashtrian Tamils to reconnect with their roots, said the PMO statement stated.

The 10-day-long Saurashtra Tamil Samagam was attended by more than 3000 Saurashtrian Tamils, who reached Somnath on a special train. The programme began on April 17. Its closing ceremony will be held on April 26 at Somnath.
