Seizure of Rs 11.34 lakh in Cash; Asst Soil Conservation Officer Arrested

Rayagada: Following the seizure of Rs 11.34 lakh in cash from his possession, Odisha vigilance officials on Monday arrested an assistant soil conservation officer Kishor Chandra Nayak, now posted in Rayagada district.

On Sunday, sleuths of the vigilance department had intercepted Nayak, while he was on returning to his rented house with a bag containing over Rs f lakh in cash. Later simultaneous raids at his office and house located near Mangala Mandir, Rayagada led to a recovery of Rs 6.30 lakh.

The arrested official could not provide a proper explanation for the Rs 11.34 lakh cash seized from his possession.

The vigilance department also conducted raids at his wife’s residence at Patrapada Kishore Vihar, Lane-2 PS-Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar as well as his parental house located at Mantriguda, Nabarangpur.

An investigation is on to unearth his disproportionate assets.
