‘Selfiee’ performs poorly; Kangana Ranaut Calls it “Flop”

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s much-hyped ‘Selfiee’, released on Friday had a disastrous opening. Both stars could not attract the audience to the theatres. It was Akshay’s first film of 2023. According to the report of trade analysts, the film has witnessed ‘shockingly low numbers’ on Day 1. The film scored lower than Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada. It has raked in only Rs 1.30 crore on Day 1 (net box office collection), reported The Statesman.

Kangana Ranaut termed Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee ‘flop’ right after its release. She claimed that this film hardly made Rs 10 lakh on the first day of its release.

Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram handle and slammed filmmaker Karan Johar’s co-produced film Selfiee on its release day.  Comparing the first-day business of her last outing Dhakaad indirectly with Selfiee, Kangana wrote, “Karan Johar movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day”.

Besides Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, Selfiee stars Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha. It is the remake of a 2019 Malayalam film, Driving Licence starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
