Sending Opium to Canada in Chyawanprash Bottle, New Trick of Narcotics Smuggling

New Delhi: A man from Punjab tried to send opium to Canada by hiding it in a bottle of Chyawanprash. An opium packet hidden inside the bottle was found when the courier company scanned the parcel on Monday. The courier company informed Narcotics Control Bureau about it. Around 44 grams of opium in a small packet was found inside a half kg bottle of Chyawanprash.

The parcel sent by one Sukhvinder Singh of Punjab also had some clothes and snacks. It was to reach Varinder Singh, residing in Marie of Canada. A case was registered and an investigation is on to nab the man behind this opium smuggling through courier.

In a similar incident, on May 26, Gurugram police registered a case against a Punjab resident for allegedly trying to send opium via courier to a person in the US by hiding it inside bottles of Chyawanprash.
