TPCODL Observes Sustainability Month, Focuses on Beating Plastic Pollution

Bhubaneswar: TPCODL, a joint venture between the Odisha Government and Tata Power, observed Sustainability Month in June 2023 to promote sustainable business practices. The month-long celebration, organized by the Tata Sustainability Group, aimed to encourage collective action among employees for a positive environmental impact.

Under the theme “SMART Solutions to Plastic Pollution,” TPCODL conducted the #BeatPlasticPollution Campaign to raise awareness about the devastating impact of plastic pollution and promote informed actions to combat it. The campaign included engagement activities and competitions for employees, their families, customers, and school students, emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation. Over 1000 employees and their families participated enthusiastically.

TPCODL organized plastic waste collection drives across its offices, including corporate and division offices (Marsaghai, BED, Nimpada, Paradeep, Jagatsinghpur) and circle offices (Cuttack & Dhenkanal). Additionally, in collaboration with women’s self-help groups, the company planted more than 500 saplings.

On World Environment Day, TPCODL launched 15 Electric Bikes for its Projects Team, resulting in an annual CO2 emission reduction of 72.9 tonnes. The company plans to expand this initiative further.

To educate students about energy conservation, resource management, electrical and road safety, and the impact of plastic pollution, TPCODL conducted Club Enerji sessions in schools in Angul and Nayagarh. Over 150 students actively participated in these sessions.

The Sustainability Month celebrations concluded with a ceremony in Bhubaneshwar, attended by senior officials of the company. The event recognized the contributions of employees and showcased the best entries from the competitions.
