Skeletal Remains Of Elephant Calf Found In Satakosia Sanctuary

Angul: The skeletal remains of an elephant calf were found at Pampas forest range of Satkosia sanctuary in Angul district on Sunday.

The elephant calf is said to be around eight-year-old, Officials informed.

On being informed, senior forest department officials have reached the spot and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of the animal.

Recently, Odisha forest and environment minister Pradip Amat informed the State Assembly that 784 elephants have died in the last 10 years. While 82 jumbos died in 2012-13, the figure was 86 in 2015-16, 93 in 2018-19 and 86 in 2021-22.
