Special Coin Featuring Harekrushna Mahtab to Mark His 125th Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: A special coin featuring Odisha’s former Chief Minister and noted freedom fighter, Harekrushna Mahtab will be released by the Central government to mark his 125th birth anniversary.

BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, who happens to be the son of the former CM, said the Ministry of Finance has approved the proposal of the Culture Ministry to mint a special coin in memory of the legendary leader from Odisha. This commemorative coin will be of Rs 100 denomination and has already been minted.

According to the Cuttack MP, this commemorative coin will be released before the end of the celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Harekrushna Mahtab.

Mahtab is regarded as the architect of modern Odisha. He was Odisha’s first Chief Minister from 1946 to 1950 and again from 1956 to 1960.
