6-Time MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Actor Turned Ex-MP Siddhant Mohapatra, Padmashree Damayanti Beshra Join BJP

Bhubaneswar: A week after resigning from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at eh party headquarters in New Delhi.

Along with him, Ollywood cine actor and two-time former BJD MP, Siddhant Mohapatra and Padmashree Damayanti Beshra also joined the saffron party. Damayanti Beshra is a Santali author and Adivasi researcher. She is known for literature of Santali language. In 2020, she was honoured by Padma Shri for her remarkable contribution to Santhali literature.

They joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP vice-president Baijayanat Panda and other senior leaders of the party.

The six-time MP from Cuttack, Bhartruhari Mahtab resigned from the BJD on March 22.

After joining the BJP, Mahtab is likely to be fielded from Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency against BJD’s Santrupt Misra.
