Arrested Ex-CM Hemant Soren Denied Bail to Attend Uncle’s Funeral

Ranchi: A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Saturday rejected the interim bail petition of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in a land scam case.

The Chief Minister had sought interim bail of 13 days from the court, to attend the funeral of his uncle, Raja Ram Soren.

Raja Ram Soren was the elder brother of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren. He passed away on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Soren had moved Supreme Court seeking relief in a money laundering case.

Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED in a land scam case in January 2024.
