Jailed Ex-CM Hemant Soren Denied Permission by Court to Participate in Jharkhand Budget Session

Ranchi: A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Thursday denied permission to former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to participate in the state Budget session beginning on Friday.

Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in a money laundering case. He has been lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail under judicial custody since the end of his 13-day ED custody on February 15.

The former Jharkhand CM had filed a petition before the PMLA court seeking permission to participate in the budget session, which was denied by the court.

The PMLA court in Ranchi had earlier allowed Soren to participate in the trust vote in the Jharkhand Assembly on February 5.
