Maoists Kill Congress Leader in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: A Congress leader and former member of the block council, Joga Podiyam was brutally murdered by Maoists in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

The victim was killed by sharp-edged weapons by the red rebels at a distance of nearly 500 meters from a CAF camp, reported The Statesman.

This violent incident occurred at late Friday night in the Aranpur police station area. A group of armed naxalites stormed the house of Joga Podiyam and abducted him into the dense forest. His body was located on Saturday morning.

Joga Podiyam was reportedly receiving threats from Maoists from the time of 2018 assembly elections.

Investigations are underway to determine whether this was a Naxal attack or a result of personal enmity.
