Tiger Hangs to Death in Poachers’ Trap in Panna Tiger Reserve

Bhopal: A two-year-old male tiger was found hanging from a tree in Panna Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Forest officials found the tiger hanging dead with a clutch wire tightened around its neck.

It is suspected that the ill-fated tiger accidentally got caught in this trap laid by poachers to catch other animals. Clutch wire is usually used by poachers to trap wild animals.

A dog squad along with the Madhya Pradesh Tiger Strike Force has reached the spot to track down the culprits.

The body of the dead tiger was sent for postmortem to ascertain the reason for its death.

Panna Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh is situated in an area of 3500 sq km. Around 32 tigers are said to be living in it. Madhya Pradesh has six tiger reserves, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Satpura, Panna, and Sanjay Dubri.
