Video Leak Case: Chandigarh University closed till Saturday, two hostel wardens suspended

Chandigarh: Taking action in the case of the alleged objectionable video of girl students living in hostels in Mohali being made viral, Chandigarh University has suspended warden Rajwinder Kaur and another warden. Along with this, the university has also been closed till Saturday. The matter came to the fore yesterday, following which there was a massive protest by the students. At the same time, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also ordered an inquiry into the matter on Sunday.

A video of a suspended warden also went viral on Sunday, in which she is seen reprimanding the accused student who has made the video viral and has been arrested. There are allegations that the warden did not immediately inform the police after the disclosure of the case. Along with this, the warden also scolded the protesting girls.

It is worth noting that the police have arrested a 23-year-old youth from Himachal Pradesh along with the accused girl, who is being told to the boyfriend of the said student. It is accused that the girl had sent the videos to this young man. However, the police are still saying that the accused girl had only sent her video. Police said that the phone of the accused girl has been checked and only four videos were found in it and all of them belonged to her.

Himachal Pradesh Police has also arrested another 31-year-old man in this case. Punjab Additional Director General of Police Gurpreet Dev told reporters that it appears that the accused student shared a video of herself with the youth and no objectionable video of any other student has been found.

University officials also dismissed false and baseless reports that claimed that videos of several girl students were made and shared on social media in the university hostel and several students attempted suicide after the video went viral.
