Vigilance Arrests Former Bhadrak DSWO Over DA Charges

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended the former District Social Welfare Officer, Bhadrak, Social Welfare Officer (SWO) (Hdqrs), W&CD Department, Bhubaneswar.

A case (No.16 dated 23.06.2023) has been registered in this connection against Behera and her two sons at the Balasore Vigilance police station under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

During house searches at the premises of the accused, Vigilance sleuths unearthed the following movable and immovable assets in Behera’s and her family members’ names:

One triple-storeyed building with a total area of 4007 sqft at Ganeswarpur in Balasore.

Another triple-storeyed building with a total area of 5466 sqft at Firingipatna in Balasore.

One double-storeyed building with a total area of 1140 sqft at Ganeswarpur in Balasore.

One 3-BHK flat at Utkal Royal Residency, Gautam Nagar in Bhubaneswar worth over Rs 51 lakh.

Another 3-BHK flat at Stalwart Palace in Old Town in Bhubaneswar.

Eight plots in prime areas of the Balasore district.

Cash to the tune of Rs 2.79 lakhs.

Bank, Postal & Insurance deposits over Rs.1.61 crore.

One four-wheeler (Maruti Baleno-Altura) and 2 two-wheelers (Suzuki GLX & Passion Plus).

Silver ornaments weighing 2.112 kg.

Gold jewellery and household articles worth over Rs7.39 lakh.
