Woman Dies In Elephant Attack In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A woman was killed in a wild pachyderm attack at Banbiharipur village in Telkoi forest in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The deceased has been identified as Draupadi Naik, wife of Dwitikrishna Naik. She was also a ward member of Akula Panchayat No. 10.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday while Draupadi had gone to a mango grove near her house to collect mangoes after a thunderstorm when an elephant attacked her.

However, an injured Draupadi somehow managed to reach her house after the attack.

Draupadi’s family members rushed her to Telkoi Medical Center where she died during treatment this morning.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department has given a compensation of Rs 60,000 to the family of the deceased in the first phase.
