Young man hangs himself for being humiliated in Panchayat

Hisar: Firoz Khan (26) committed suicide by hanging himself in his room on Tuesday night after being insulted by a panchayat in Haryana’s Hisar district. A suicide note was found from the deceased.

The note contains the names of two people who are held responsible for his death. Uklana police conducted a post-mortem on the body at Civil Hospital. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kala, Satpal member, and others on the complaint of Pala, the father of the deceased.

Pala, a resident of Prabhuwala village, has told the police that he has three sons. The elder son Firoz was a plumber. On the night of September 29, a water motor was stolen from Sheetla Mata temple in the village. The next day, Parminder Singh, the former sarpanch representative in the village, and other people of the village called the panchayat. In the Panchayat, Firoz admitted that he did not steal the water motor. The theft has been done by Sunil and others in the village. He bought the motor from them for 800 rupees.

After the incident, Firoz was found hanging in his room. A suicide note was found in the son’s pocket. On Wednesday afternoon, DSP Rohtash reached Civil Hospital and interacted with the family members. DSP Rohtash says that based on the complaint, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Satpal, Kala, and others.
