Youth Arrested for Raping Minor in Koraput

Koraput: A 22-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Odisha’s Koraput. The minor is said to be a student of class VIII.

The accused was identified as Padmana Pangi of  Machhara village under Koraput block. He was produced in local court after being arrested.

According to sources, the accused persuaded the girl to accompany her to the nearby forest during school hours. He allegedly raped her in the forest.

The girl shared her ordeal with her family. After knowing about the incident, the victim’s father lodged a complaint at Koraput Town police.

“The victim is admitted to SLN Medical College and Hospital here. We have registered a case (309/22) in this regard. We will record the statement of the victim tomorrow,” the police official said.
