3 BJB College Students Arrested For Thrashing Junior Over Alleged Love Affair

Bhubaneswar: Three +2 second-year students of BJB College were arrested on Thursday after a video of them thrashing a fellow junior over an alleged love affair went viral online.

A video of a +2 first-year student being ruthlessly beaten by three seniors within the BJB college campus in Bhubaneswar went viral on social media yesterday.

As per sources, some seniors allegedly beat the first-year student black and blue over an alleged love affair.

Videos of the incident were posted on several social media sites on Wednesday.

As soon as the video appeared on social media sites, the Badagada police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

“The students who thrashed the victim have been identified. As of preliminary investigation, there are no indications of it being a case of ragging. Additionally, we have the victim’s statement on record,” said Prateek Singh, the DCP for Bhubaneswar.

The victim supposedly used to come to the college with a girl student which was opposed by some +2 second-year Arts students.

However, when the 1st year student did not pay heed to the warnings of his seniors, they thrashed him, say sources.
