ARI Nabbed While Accepting Bribe In Koraput

Koraput: Koraput Vigilance arrested an Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) on Saturday for soliciting and taking a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant.

According to reports, ARI Amit Kumar Behera of the Suku RI circle in the Koraput Tehsil had asked the complainant for Rs 6,000 in exchange for a correction and the issuance of separate RoRs (Patta) in his favour.

Vigilance sleuths set up a trap and caught ARI Behera red-handed while he accepted the bribe money from the complainant this afternoon. 

Officials further launched search operations at places linked to Behera. Behera’s office at Suku and his official quarter in the Upper Kolab colony were searched.

In this regard, Koraput Vigilance filed a case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 against the accused ARI.

A further investigation into the matter is underway.
