ASO Exam Row: Fresh Petition Filed In HC Challenging Sectional Cut-Off Mark

Cuttack: A fresh petition has been filed in the Orissa High Court on Wednesday challenging the sectional cut-off mark in the OPSC’s ASO selection process.

According to reports, the High Court is likely to hear the case on December 2.

Reportedly, Orissa High Court refused to hear the petitions filed over irregularities in the OPSC ASO examination on Monday.

It refused to entertain a batch of petitions filed by candidates alleging irregularities in the selection process of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination.

Hearing the petition, the High Court directed Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to publish the result of the examination as per the policy of 2016.

Notably, the results of the ASO examination published by the OPSC drew the exasperation of thousands of unsuccessful candidates.

Since the publication of the result, many aspirants who claimed to have done well in the written examination but did not shortlist have now raised questions about transparency in the selection process.

After the unsuccessful candidates of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) exam hit the streets to protest, the Chairman of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), Satyajit Mohanty recently clarified that there has been no irregularities in the recruitment process.

In a press conference today, Chairman Mohanty said, “The mark sheet and answer will be uploaded only after the final result. As per the High Court order, the 2016 norms will be followed.”

The current exam had a minimum qualifying mark of 40% for the general category and 30% for SEBC/SC/ST.
