The sanctioned amount is specifically earmarked for the enhancement of the Daringbadi Ghat section on NH-59, which spans across Kandhamal and Ganjam districts, as part of the Annual Plan for the fiscal year 2023-24. This comprehensive project aims to cover a distance of 26.96 kilometres.
Minister Gadkari highlighted the existing challenges faced by the Daringbadi Ghat segment, including narrow carriage ways and suboptimal geometrics, which have led to difficulties for long-route vehicles originating from western Odisha, prompting them to bypass National Highway 59.
Recognized as a prominent tourist destination, particularly during the winter season, the improvement of this stretch is anticipated to elevate highway standards, enhance safety measures, and ensure uninterrupted all-weather connectivity along National Highway-59.
