Odisha: Over 3,000 People to Be Temporarily Relocated Ahead of Missile Test in Chandipur ITR

Balasore: Over 3,000 residents from six villages near the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Balasore district, will be relocated to temporary shelters ahead of a missile test scheduled for Thursday.

Assistant Collector Niranjan Behera informed on Wednesday that both the district administration and ITR authorities have made arrangements for relocating the residents. Approximately 3,100 people living within a 2.5 km radius of the test range will be moved to safe shelters.

The relocation process will begin at 6 am and will include 1,093 people from Jayadebaksaba Pahi and Sajahajnagar Pahi, 895 from Bhimpur Pahi and Tundara Pahi, and 1,112 from Khadupahi and Kusumuli. Residents will remain in the shelters until the missile test concludes, with provisions such as food and water being provided.

Over 100 government officials are overseeing the smooth relocation, while around 15 platoons of police have been deployed to ensure law and order during the process.
