Cuttack: Cop Transferred After Extortion Demand Video Goes Viral

Cuttack: A police officer has been reportedly transferred after a video, in which he was seen demanding extortion from a person, went viral.

In that video, the cop, identified as Dinakrushna Mishra, Inspector-in-Charge of Cantonment Police Station in Cuttack was seen threatening the lessee with arrest if his demand of Rs 40,000 for allowing the lessee to take a particular two-wheeler to stand on lease during Bali Yatra, isn’t met.

The lessee, identified as Smruti Ranjan Mishra recorded the conversation where he could be heard requesting the police officer to consider taking less than Rs 40,000 citing a Rs 2 lakh loss in business during Bali Yatra.

Immediately after the video went viral, IIC Mishra was transferred to the Cuttack DCP office from Cantonment Police station.
