7 Swept Away in Devi River in Jagatsinghpur, 2 Dead, 1 Missing

Jagatsinghpur: Seven people were swept away in the Devi river near Baredia in Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, on Tuesday while performing the tenth-day rituals of their relative. Six of them were rescued, but two died during treatment, and one remains missing.

The identities of the deceased brothers are yet to be confirmed. The circumstances of the incident are still unknown.

Local residents played a vital role in rescuing the six survivors and getting them medical attention. Sadly, two of them passed away in the hospital, while the others are now safe.

A local fire service team has launched an extensive search for the missing person, although there have been no results so far. The search efforts may be halted after nightfall.

The seven individuals had gathered at a Ghat along the Devi river to perform the Dasah rituals in memory of BSF jawan Satya Pal, who had previously lost his life in a road accident.

At the time of this report, the search operation is still ongoing.
