Eastern India’s First Semiconductor Fabrication Unit To Come Up In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Eastern India’s first semiconductor fab (fabrication) factory will soon call Odisha its home. An initial investment of Rs 30,000 crore has been proposed for the construction of a semiconductor fabrication facility on 40 acres of land close to Bhubaneswar. This project is being taken up by the UK-based SRAM & MRAM Group.

The facility, which will be established over the next two months with a total investment of Rs 2 lakh crore, would offer 400-500 young men and women direct employment as well as indirect employment to several other skilled youngsters.

The semiconductor chips that are used in everything from washing machines to aircrafts were formerly imported by India from China, Taiwan, Korea, and other nations.

The Group’s Vice Chairman Gurujee Kumaran Swami and Odisha In-charge Debadutta Singh Deo briefed the press at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2022.

LN Agrawal, Rohini Singh Deo, and Priyanka Singh Deo were among the government of Odisha representatives present at the news conference.
