Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Security Bolstered with New Anti-Sabotage Team

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s security has been bolstered with the establishment of a dedicated anti-sabotage check team. The team will be deployed during CM Naveen Patnaik’s various engagements, including garlanding events and public meetings.

The team will comprise two deputy commandant-rank officers, two assistant commandants, and four armed sub-inspectors, alongside other essential personnel like havildars and sepoys.

Security at the Chief Minister’s residence has also been enhanced with a total deployment of 91 personnel, including armed sub-inspectors.

This decision to reinforce the Chief Minister’s security detail comes in response to concerns raised about the effectiveness of the Personal Security Officers (PSOs), particularly following the tragic murder of the state’s Health Minister, Naba Das.

Additionally, a dedicated security training centre is in the pipeline, with the creation of new positions to support its establishment. This move aims to ensure the safety of not only the Chief Minister but also other key figures in the Odisha government, such as the Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Ministers. A total of 72 additional police personnel will be deployed for this purpose, resulting in the creation of 203 new positions.

The government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its key officials is evident in this proactive step.
