Fire Breaks Out at Subsidiary Shrine Within Puri Jagannath Temple Complex

Puri: A fire erupted at the Bedhakali temple, a subsidiary shrine located within the premises of the famed Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, on Saturday night. Thankfully, the blaze caused minimal damage and no injuries were reported.

Sources suggest an electrical short circuit sparked the fire around 10 pm. Firefighters arrived promptly and extinguished the flames after disconnecting the 12th-century shrine’s electricity supply.

“The fire incident was contained swiftly, and thankfully, there were no casualties,” a source informed. “The shrine itself sustained minimal damage.”

Following the fire’s suppression, the electricity supply to the main Jagannath Temple was promptly restored.
