Gopal Chandra Panda & Jagannath Behera Conferred With Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja Samman

Bhubaneswar: Odissi vocalist Gopal Chandra Panda and Pala artist Jagannath Behera received the distinguished Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja Samman for 2021 and 2022 in recognition of their contributions to the fields of art and culture.

At the ceremony held by the Odia Language Literature and Culture Department and the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi on Monday at Rabindra Mandap in the capital of Odisha, the pair received Rs 5 lakh cash prizes and a souvenir each.

16 musicians received Akademi Awards for the year 2021, while 15 did so for the year 2022. Each artist won a monetary reward of Rs 2 lakh.

Meanwhile, Kabichandra Kalicharan Yuva Pratibha Samman was awarded to five artists for the years 2021 and 2022. They each earned a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
