1 Dead, 4 Injured in Honeybee Attack in Kalahandi Forest

Kalahandi: A man lost his life and four others were critically injured after being attacked by honeybees in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The incident occurred in a forest near Betiapada, Bijepur area. The deceased, identified as Burja Majhi (45), succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhawanipatna.

The other victims, Purna Majhi (46), Lipa Majhi (36), Mugri Majhi (38) and Pagu Majhi (38) were treated at a hospital in Bengaon and have since returned home.

According to reports, all five individuals from Betiapada village, under Bijepur police limits, were collecting firewood in the Titing Jharan forest when they were attacked by a swarm of honeybees. While they were rushed to a local hospital, Burja Majhi was later shifted to the DHH due to the severity of his condition, but he passed away during treatment.

Local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
