Odisha Braces for Week-Long Spell of Rain, Thunderstorms and Lightning

Bhubaneswar: Odisha braces for a week of turbulent weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting rain, thunderstorms and lightning across various parts of the state. The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued warnings for heavy rain and strong winds in certain areas.

According to the IMD’s midday bulletin, light to moderate rainfall is expected in many regions over the next 24 hours. A yellow warning has been issued, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph in districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and others.

Moreover, heavy rainfall is forecasted in specific locations within Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, and other districts during this period. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Bhadrak districts.
