Jharsuguda Bypoll: Webcasting In All 253 Booths; 10% Booths To Be Pink Booths

Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda by-election would have elaborate arrangements for free and fair voting, Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Dhal remarked on Monday.

Beginning at 7 am on May 10, voting will take place in 253 booths. Out of the total 253 booths, 144 booths will have central forces deployed. There would be a suitable number of Odisha Police officers present during voting in addition to the seven companies of the central forces, Dhal informed.

A total of 1,012 poll workers will oversee voting in all booths, and 96 poll workers have been placed on standby in case of replacement or other complications, Dhal added.

26 Pink booths in all, with all-women polling staff, have been set up, making up approximately 10% of the total booths for the Jharsuguda by-election.

“All booths now have webcasting capabilities. In 50% of the booths, testing has already begun with the installation of cameras,” Dhal said.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that special arrangements and measures have also been established for voters who are physically disabled. Additionally, 118 auto-rickshaws have been set up by the district administration to transport these voters from their homes to the relevant polling booths.
