Major Maoist Dump Unearthed in Malkangiri, Ousting Plans for Renewed Activity

Malkangiri: A joint team comprising District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel successfully recovered a Maoist dump during a targeted search operation in the Kalimela police limits of Malkangiri district. Acting on specific and reliable intelligence, the team conducted an intensive search near Kurmanur village along the Andhra-Odisha border, leading to the discovery of a major Maoist dump in a forest area around 4:30 PM.

The recovered cache included a substantial quantity of ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and various other Maoist-related articles. A press release highlighted the successful operation and the subsequent seizure of these items. The area has witnessed an escalation in unlawful activities by Maoist extremists, who are reportedly attempting to reactivate their Dalams (groups) in different regions.

In response to this threat, intelligence gathering has been intensified, and surveillance has been heightened in vulnerable areas, according to an official communiqué. This recovery dealt a significant blow to the Maoists’ subversive and anti-national agenda in the region. Authorities suspect that the seized explosives and materials belonged to Maoist cadres associated with the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC). It is believed that these resources were intended for use against civilians and security forces to carry out subversive and anti-national activities, with the aim of re-establishing Maoist presence in the area.

A senior official emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “The recovery is a major setback to the Maoists’ subversive plans in this area. Further combing and search operations are currently underway in response to this development.” The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities and maintain security in the affected regions.
