Ex-MLA Of Chitrakonda Dambaru Sisa Resigns from BJD

Bhubaneswar: Dambaru Sisa, a prominent Bonda tribal youth leader and former MLA from Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district, tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday.

Sisa, who previously represented the BJD in the Odisha Legislative Assembly after winning the 2014 elections sent his resignation letter to the party chief, Naveen Patnaik.

The comes amid speculation and murmurs of dissatisfaction within the party ranks, particularly regarding the treatment of Sisa during the 2019 General Elections. Allegations have surfaced suggesting neglect on the part of the party leadership, as Sisa was reportedly denied a ticket to contest the polls.

Expressing his intentions for the future in his resignation letter, the tribal leader hinted at embarking on a fresh journey. It’s believed that Sisa harbours aspirations to contest in the upcoming 2024 General Elections and was hopeful of securing a ticket from the BJD.

Sisa’s resignation may have ramifications not only within the party but also in terms of the broader electoral dynamics in the state, particularly in tribal-dominated regions like Malkangiri.
