ECI Orders Repolling At 6 Polling Stations In Outer Manipur On April 30

Imphal: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered fresh polling at six stations across three assembly segments – Ukhrul, Chingai and Karong falling under the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency. The re-polling is scheduled for April 30 from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer, Pradeep Kumar Jha, stated that the ECI has directed the nullification of the polls conducted on April 26 at six specified polling stations. These stations include 44/20 Shangshak (A), 44/36 Ukhrul Model High School, 44/41 Greenland Primary School, and 44/50 KK Leishi Phanit Junior School in Ukhrul district, as well as 47/33 Oinam (Al) in Karong Assembly Constituency and 45/14 Chingai in Chingai Assembly Constituency.

Jha urged voters from these stations to turn out in large numbers for the fresh polling.

Previously, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had urged the CEO to take necessary action regarding 19 polling stations in Ukhrul and Phungyar assembly constituencies.

The Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, where phase two polling occurred on April 26, involves four candidates: Alfred Kanngam Arthur (Congress), Kachui Timothy Zimik (Naga People’s Front), and independent candidates S Kho John and Alyson Abonmai.

Manipur achieved the highest voter turnout in the country at 77.32% after completing phase two polling. The next round of polling is scheduled for May 7, with counting set for June 4.
