2 Maoist Cadres Surrender in Odisha, Pledge Return to Mainstream Society

Bhubaneswar: Two Maoist cadres affiliated with the DKSZC operating in the South Bastar Division surrendered to the Malkangiri SP in Odisha, signalling their return to mainstream society. The surrendered individuals, Kadti Hura (alias Samir alias Sanjay) and Ganfa Kartami (alias Ganga), both hail from Chhattisgarh.

Kadti Hura’s involvement with the banned CPI (Maoist) party dates back to 2001 when he joined as a militia member in the Kistaram AC under the South Bastar Division. Over the years, he ascended through the ranks, eventually becoming an ACM in charge of the supply team for the same AC. Health issues led him to leave the party in 2014, after which he joined RPC/DAKMS in 2022, serving as president in Burkulanka village. He was actively involved in Naxal activities and held a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh as an ACM and Rs 1 lakh as the president of DAKMS, announced by the Chhattisgarh government.

Similarly, Ganga Kartami joined the CPI (Maoist) party in 2001 as a militia member in the Konta AC, South Bastar Division. He rose in ranks, becoming an ACM and also assuming the role of president of DAKMS in the Konta area. Family issues prompted him to leave the party in 2019. Ganga carried a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh as an ACM and Rs 1 lakh as president of DAKMS, as announced by the Chhattisgarh government.
