Biopic on Legendary Actress Madhubala to be Helmed by Darlings Director

Mumbai: Filmmaker Jasmeet K Reen, who made her directorial debut with Alia Bhatt-starrer “Darlings, will helm the upcoming biopic based on the life and times of Indian cinema legend Madhubala.

Sony Pictures International Productions announced the project on Friday on their official social media handles.

Get ready to delve into the timeless charm and captivating story of one of Bollywood’s most iconic stars. Madhubala, a legend of Hindi cinema’s golden era, is remembered for her role in classics like “Mr. & Mrs. 55” (1955), “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi” (1958), “Kala Pani” (1958), “Howrah Bridge” (1958), and as Anarkali in the 1960 historical epic drama “Mughal-e-Azam”, also featuring Dilip Kumar and Prithviraj Kapoor.

Madhubala passed away in 1969 at the age of 36.

The film is bankrolled by Sony Pictures International Productions, Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd and Madhubala Ventures.
