Kendrapara Naib Sarpanch Suicide: Family Files Abetment To Suicide Case Against JE

Kendrapada: The family of Naib Sarpanch of Baghabuda Panchayat in Kendrapara district filed a case at Rajkanika Police Station on Friday, holding the Block Junior Engineer accountable for his death.

According to reports, Rajesh Behera, the deceased Naib Sarpanch, poisoned himself to end his life after repeatedly approaching the Junior Engineer at the Rajkanika block office in an attempt to get his bills approved.

Behera’s family filed a complaint at the Rajkanika Police Station after his death, alleging that Junior Engineer Pradeep Jhankar had defrauded Rajesh Behera of his money and driven him to commit suicide.

“My brother’s financial situation worsened when Pradeep Jhankar, the junior engineer of the Rajkanika block, failed to pass any of the bills. I found out that Jhankar had actually embezzled all of that money after asking questions,” he continued.

Jhankar, however, denied every accusation made against him, “I have been framed by his family. Never did I bother him. He actually stole a lot of money from me and, despite numerous calls, never showed up at the workplace. He owed me not a single bill at the time,” he claimed.

When questioned about the claim, Rabinarayan Acharya, the Rajkanika BDO, responded, “I do not know anything about the charges. If the police ask us questions about the matter, I will take the right action.
