Labour Dept Orders Probe into Alleged Labour Law Violations at Hi-Tech Medical College

Bhubaneswar: The Labour and Employees’ State Insurance (L&ESI) Department has ordered an investigation into alleged violations of labour laws by the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital authorities in Bhubaneswar.

The probe comes following a grievance filed by the All Odisha Technical and Professional Students Association, alleging unfair labour practices at the private healthcare facility. In a letter to the Labour Commissioner, L&ESI Under Secretary Suprava Patra has requested a detailed report on the matter at the earliest.

This is not the first time Hi-Tech Hospital has come under scrutiny. The hospital made headlines recently after a tragic gas cylinder blast on December 29th, which left four people injured and three dead. The incident was further marred by confusion and mishandling of victim identification.
