Another Leopard Spotted Roaming Near Village in Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: Another man-eater leopard was reportedly spotted in Odisha’s Nuapada district just a day after the Forest Department captured one in the same area. The latest sighting occurred near Kodapali village under Dharambandha police limits this morning. Forest department officials promptly responded to the villagers’ reports and assessed the situation.

The Forest department successfully captured the man-eater leopard near Kodapali on the previous night by installing a cage near a building in the village. The captured animal was then transferred to the Nuapada Sadar Forest Range office, with plans to relocate it to Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in the capital city.

Tragically, recent leopard attacks in the area have claimed human lives, including a seven-year-old boy in Godhasapara village on October 31 and a 45-year-old woman near Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Nuapada on November 3. In March this year, another unfortunate incident involved a 70-year-old woman in Jalmadei village, close to the sanctuary.
