Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das’s Marriage Controversy Escalates as Somalika Dash Takes Case to Orissa HC

Cuttack: The ongoing controversy involving Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das and his alleged girlfriend Somalika Dash has escalated as Somalika Dash has taken her case to the Orissa High Court. She is seeking a halt to the marriage registration that MLA Das has applied for with another woman.

Somalika submitted her petition at the Cuttack sub-registrar office after filing it yesterday. She aims to prevent the registration of MLA Das’s marriage with another woman. MLA Das had previously applied for marriage registration with Pratyusha Nanda, a Cuttack city resident, on September 21.

Earlier, Somalika had accused the legislator of failing to appear for their scheduled marriage at a court in Jagatsinghpur, despite their joint application for marriage registration at the district’s sub-registrar office. She had also made allegations of involvement in a sex racket, claiming that the MLA engaged innocent girls in illegal activities and used the proceeds for election-related expenses.

Alleging inaction by the police, Somalika sought the registration of a case against the MLA, and the Orissa High Court directed the Jagatsinghpur police station IIC to do so.
