Ropeway Facility in Nandankanan Zoo Poised to Resume Operations

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoo is gearing up to reopen its ropeway facility, bringing an end to the anticipation of eager visitors. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a successful mock drill of the ropeway on Thursday in collaboration with zoo staff.

As the tourist season approaches, authorities are considering an early commencement of the aerial ropeway. The joint mock drill, involving 15 to 20 NDRF jawans, showcased the rescue procedures for stranded tourists. The exercise, lasting one and a half hours, meticulously inspected all safety measures in place.

A similar mock drill took place in May this year. Although there has been no official announcement from the zoo authorities, it seems likely that the ropeway facility will be operational by New Year’s, providing an added attraction during the peak months of December and January when the zoo experiences a surge in visitors.
