Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Takes Aim at Opposition Lies, Urges BJD to Wage Counteroffensive

Bhubaneswar: In a charged address to party cadres at the Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) state headquarters, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik issued a stark warning about opposition misinformation campaigns. Speaking at the 80-member State Executive Meeting, Patnaik accused the opposition of resorting to “lies and falsehoods” due to a lack of substantive issues to target the BJD government.

Recognizing the power of social media in shaping public perception, Patnaik urged party leaders to leverage platforms like Facebook and Twitter to counter the opposition’s “false narratives.” He emphasized the need for a robust grassroots response, calling on BJD members to become information warriors, disseminating the message of development to every household in Odisha.

Patnaik, a political veteran who has led the BJD since its inception, highlighted the transformative changes witnessed under his leadership. He pointed to advancements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social welfare as tangible proof of the government’s commitment to progress. “Our opponents have no credible issues to raise,” he declared, “so they resort to falsehoods. But truth and development will prevail. We will build a new, empowered Odisha.”

The State Executive Meeting also saw the approval of 27 proposals, including a strategic decision to defer the party’s organizational election for a year. This move underscores the BJD’s focus on internal stability and unity in the face of external challenges.
