Newborn Allegedly Abducted from Balasore Hospital, Police Launch Manhunt

Balasore: A newborn boy receiving treatment at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) has reportedly been abducted, sparking concerns over lax security measures at the government-run health facility.

The infant, who had been admitted for jaundice treatment, was taken downstairs earlier in the day for medical procedures. When the mother went to summon a doctor due to the baby’s worsening condition, she returned moments later to find him missing.

Following the disappearance, the parents promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the local police station. Police launched an investigation to locate the missing newborn.

The distressed parents lamented the malfunctioning of nearby CCTV cameras, which could have provided valuable video evidence for the inquiry.

As of the report’s filing, the whereabouts of the abducted newborn remained unknown, prompting heightened efforts to locate him.
