Odisha Govt Appoints Nikhil Pavan Kalyan as New Collector for Jajpur Dist

The Odisha government on Wednesday announced the appointment of Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, a distinguished 2012-batch IAS officer, as the new Collector and District Magistrate for Jajpur district.

“In exercise of the powers conferred under section 20(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act II of 1974), the State Government do hereby appoint Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, IAS as the District Magistrate in the district of Jajpur,” the notification said.

Formerly serving as the Director of Rural Development in the state, Nikhil Pavan Kalyan brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), showcasing his diverse expertise in administrative roles.

This appointment comes amidst a notable development where the current Jajpur Collector, Subhankar Mohapatra, voluntarily disclosed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) about his brother-in-law’s candidacy in the Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency. Consequently, the ECI decided to effectuate a replacement during the electoral period.
