Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has approved several proposals, including the “Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana (MSPY).” This initiative aims to improve the nutrition outcomes of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and severely underweight children under the age of 6. The plan spans a period of five years, starting from 2023-24, with an estimated cost of Rs 3354.40 crore.
MSPY focuses on providing nutritional support to adolescent girls aged 15-19 throughout the state. This support includes the provision of eggs, ladoos, and nutrition supplements. To ensure the well-being of at-risk adolescent girls and address anaemia concerns, Kishori Melas will be organized at the ICDS project level, offering screening services and other activities.
Furthermore, pregnant women and lactating mothers across the state will receive additional take-home rations comprising nutrient-rich food products, including millet and extra eggs. The aim is to enhance their overall nutritional intake.
By implementing the MSPY, the Odisha government aims to transform nutrition outcomes across the state, promoting the well-being of its citizens. This comprehensive plan signifies a significant step toward addressing nutritional deficiencies and improving the health of vulnerable populations.
