Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, cleared 13 key proposals, driving initiatives across LED lighting, rural outreach, public transport, and vital services like water supply and firefighting.

  • LED Lighting Project: Rs 312.18 crore allocated for tendering of energy-efficient streetlights.
  • Srimandir Parikrama Project: Rs 155 crore earmarked for IEC activities and mobilization for the project’s inauguration in Puri next January.
  • Gram Panchayat Level IEC: Each panchayat to receive Rs 3 lakh for promoting state welfare schemes (Rs 203.82 crore total).
  • Electric Bus Fleet Expansion: CRUT greenlights procurement of 200 new electric buses for enhanced urban mobility in Bhubaneswar.
  • Strengthening Drinking Water Supply: Creation of 365 JE and 91 AEE posts approved to bolster urban water infrastructure.
