Odisha Records 5 New COVID Cases Amid Increased Testing; Public Urged to Stay Vigilant

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a minor uptick in daily COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with five new infections reported in the past 24 hours. While the active caseload climbed to 18, health officials assured the situation remains under control and urged continued vigilance against the virus.

Public Health Director Dr. Niranjan Mishra attributed the rise to an increase in testing, emphasizing that all newly identified cases are isolated at home. He downplayed concerns about a surge, stating, “There’s no need to panic. The rise is linked to the JN.1 sub-variant, but the situation is being closely monitored.”

Dr. Mishra urged residents to remain alert, emphasizing the importance of avoiding large gatherings and wearing masks in crowded settings. He reiterated the effectiveness of basic safety measures in curbing the virus’s spread.
