Odisha Government Contractual Employees Association on a peaceful protest

Bhubaneswar: Employment has become a very big problem in the present situation. In such a situation the Odisha government has started the contractual system of employment where they will give employment but there will be no job security, as the contract ends the employee has to leave the job and if he or she wants to continue then will have to re-appear the interview and all process. The job will remain for a fixed period. It is also seen that the contractual employees do a lot of work but the wage they generate from it is quite not satisfactory.

The permanent employees also do the same amount of work but generate more income. So to get equal pay for equal work, Odisha Government Contractual Employees Association (OGCEA) has started a peaceful protest by wearing a black badge and submitting a memorandum to the district administration in favor of the Chief Minister of Odisha and the Chief Secretary of the state. The protest has been continuing for 10 days. “Until unless the discrepancy of Contractual appointment would not be abolished and mend permanently,” says OGCEA. They have also mentioned if their demands don’t meet by the government, then all the contractual employees will join a mass agitation at Gandhimarg, Bhubaneswar on 11th September.
