Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has recently made some changes in the state’s IAS cadre. Yamini Sarangi, a 2008-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the State Project Director of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS). Previously, Sarangi served as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
The position of State Project Director, OAVS, has now been declared equivalent to the rank of Additional Secretary in Odisha, highlighting its importance and responsibilities. In addition to her new role, Sarangi has also been entrusted with the additional charge of the Additional Secretary to the Finance department, as stated in a notification issued by the General Administration of Public Grievances department.
Meanwhile, Sangarm Keshari Mohapatra, a 2012-batch IAS officer, who was serving as the incumbent State Project Director, OAVS, has been transferred and appointed as the Additional Secretary to the School and Mass Education department.
Another notable appointment is that of Vedbhushan, a 2020-batch IAS officer, who has been designated as the Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation. Vedbhushan previously held the position of Sub-Collector of Dharmagarh, with additional responsibility as the Executive Officer of Dharamgarh NAC.
It is important to note that the role of Commissioner, Sambalpur Municipal Corporation, has been granted the same status and responsibility as that of an Under Secretary in Odisha.
Lastly, Nrusingh Ch. Swain, an OAS (SS) officer serving as the Special Secretary to the Finance department, has been transferred to the role of Collector and District Magistrate of Boudh, according to the notification.
