Odisha Government Launches Strategic Plan to Eliminate Measles and Rubella

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has developed a strategic plan to eliminate measles and rubella, two highly contagious viral infections, from the state. The Health and Family Welfare Department is committed to strengthening routine immunization among babies across the region.

A dedicated roadmap has been created to bolster routine immunization activities with the aim of achieving measles and rubella elimination by December 2023. Health Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Shalini Pandit, has directed all district Collectors and Commissioners of municipal corporations to adhere to the roadmap and prioritize achieving over 90% full immunization coverage in their respective areas.

It’s crucial to note that both measles and rubella can be easily prevented through vaccination. The state government is actively providing free vaccinations for babies to ensure the eradication of these two diseases. Let’s work together to secure a healthier future for Odisha’s children.
